Homeworld is a New Orleans–based band dedicated to creating original music that bridges the city’s rich funk traditions with electronic textures and a bold science-fantasy aesthetic. The core ethos of Homeworld is rooted in the sonic exploration of the boundaries between organic and synthetic musical endeavors, striving to push these frontiers into unknown territory. We aim to honor the legacy of New Orleans music while pushing it forward, crafting soundscapes that blend funk, jazz, rock, hip hop, and electronic music into something fresh, immersive, and future-facing.

Homeworld is a New Orleans–based funk band whose core ethos is the sonic exploration of the boundaries between organic and synthetic musical expression. Formed in 2014, the group—bassist/keyboardist Jason Doyle, vocalist/visual artist Colleen DiCosola, guitarist Christian Levi, and saxophonist/producer/DJ Jonathan Jouet—creates music that navigates the crossroads of tradition and innovation, blending deep New Orleans funk grooves with electronic textures, rock energy, and hip hop rhythms.
In 2019, Homeworld released Just the Good Stuff, their debut album, which showcased a distinctive approach to funk-driven songwriting and improvisation. Building on that foundation, the 2025 EP Haute Dross further pushes sonic boundaries, drawing inspiration from The Meters and Kool & the Gang while exploring science-fantasy concepts, dystopian imagery, and solar-punk aesthetics. Both releases reflect the band’s commitment to extending the reach of funk into uncharted musical territory.
Known for live performances that combine improvisation, heavy grooves, and immersive sound design, Homeworld has established itself as a creative force and a contributor within the New Orleans community. Whether through recordings, collaborations, or electrifying shows, the band strives to unite audiences through music that is simultaneously grounded, experimental, and alive—pushing the frontiers of sound while honoring the heartbeat of their hometown.
